The Premier League is the most competitive soccer league in the world, and there’s a lot of money riding on it. So, who do you think is going to win it this year? We’ve got a couple of good ideas for you.
Manchester City are currently top of the table, with a game in hand over rivals Manchester United. They have a 3 point lead over United and Chelsea, both of whom are also in contention for the title this season. But there are still 9 games left to play and anything could happen – so don’t count your chickens before they hatch!
Arsenal are just 2 points off City in 4th place, while Liverpool are 6 points adrift in 7th spot. That means that if Liverpool do happen to win their remaining 9 games (which is likely), then they’ll overtake both Arsenal and Chelsea (with whom they’re tied on points). Tottenham Hotspur sit just outside the top 4 places – although they’re only 1 point behind Arsenal for now anyway…
You might think that betting on who will win the Premier League is easy and maybe you’ll get lucky. If you are going to bet on football, you need to do your homework! Each season the top teams will be tipped for glory, but predicting how things will pan out can be risky. Looking at the team’s players, manager, form and tactics can help you make an educated guess about which teams will come out on top. Will Jose Mourinho be able to guide his men to the title? Or will it be Manchester City who dominate again?
The Premier League is arguably one of the best football leagues in the world and therefore attracts some of the best managers, players and pundits. There are 20 teams in the league who all play each other twice during a season – once at home and once away.
The ‘top 4’ teams each season qualify for next year’s Champions League group stages. The bottom three clubs are relegated to the English Championship or Football League One (formerly ‘The Second Division’).
In order to win the English Premier League, you need to be a team that is good at scoring goals. That’s what it takes. A team that can score goals is going to win the league no matter what. If you’re a team that can’t score goals, you are not going to win anything. It’s as simple as that. The team with the best strikers will win the league every time.
There is a lot of talk about teams winning the league because they are good defensively, but that’s not the case. Teams can only keep clean sheets if they have a goalkeeper who is good enough and defenders who are good enough. But there are only so many clean sheets you can keep in a season, and if you don’t score enough goals then you’re not going to win anything.
You also cannot win the league by just playing on counter-attacks and hoping your opponents miss chances. You have to be able to create chances yourself, and take them when they come along. If you don’t take your chances then you’re going to get punished eventually and it’s not going to end well for your team or your fans.
The Premier League is the most competitive division in England, and the title race will be no different. The teams that were promoted from last season’s Championship are all battling for a place in the top division. Can they stay up? The likes of West Brom, Newcastle, Swansea and Huddersfield have all spent big money this summer to strengthen their squads. But only one team can win. Find out which teams we think will win the title and who will struggle below…
