Messi’s first goal was a right-footed shot from outside the box that found the bottom right corner of the net. His second came when he capitalised on a defensive error by Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi to chip goalkeeper Diego Alves.

The 27-year-old is currently top of the Spanish league’s goal scoring charts with 33 goals, two more than Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid.
