It is the most popular and highest paid sport in the world with more than 500 million fans worldwide. The 2017 season will be the 68th running of the Formula One World Championship. It will be the first season to feature twenty races, after three new races were added to the calendar: a return to Germany at Hockenheimring, a second Grand Prix in Malaysia at Sepang International Circuit and a Grand Prix in Baku at Baku City Circuit.

It is recognised by the governing body of international motorsport, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), as the highest class of competition for open-wheel racing cars. 2017 Formula 1 Standings – The 2017 Formula 1 race season is at its peak with Lewis Hamilton on the brink of victory. Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport has now won both Championship titles for the fourth year in a row, making this the most successful period in the history of the Silver Arrows.

After winning his fourth world title, Lewis Hamilton also secured his place among the greats of British motor sport alongside Jackie Stewart and Jim Clark, who also won three World Championships each.

The 2017 Formula 1 season was another record-breaking one for the global motor racing series: it was the first time that four different drivers from four different teams had won the first four races of the year.
