Betting Tip for Saturday: Alabama at The Citadel

The Tide will roll over The Citadel on Saturday as Nick Saban and company look to improve their playoff chances with a dominating performance.

Alabama is a huge favorite (-47) but don’t expect to see them running up the score too much here. Saban will have his team focused on winning this game and not letting it get out of hand.

Saban’s team is coming off a disappointing loss against Texas A&M last week which derailed their perfect season but they have bounced back nicely with wins against LSU and Mississippi State in consecutive weeks.

This is a chance for Alabama to make another

Betting Tip for Saturday: Alabama at The Citadel. A big spread, a big win and an easy cover for Alabama. We have a pretty good idea that the Crimson Tide will be able to handle the Bulldogs of The Citadel in this game. They will be playing a triple option team, which is similar to what they see against Georgia Tech every year.

We are expecting that Nick Saban and his Alabama team will be up for this game, as they should be. The Tide has been inconsistent this season, but they have shown flashes of greatness as well. Saban will have his team ready to go on Saturday night, even though a lot of people probably won’t be paying much attention to this game.

Parting Glimpse of Wall Street. There is nothing more perfect than seeing an investment banker on the streets during the holiday season. In fact, you can see them scurrying around from place to place with the same intensity that you see during the month of May or June when the big banks are about to announce their quarterly earnings numbers.

Saturday’s best bets from the experts

Alabama at The Citadel**

This is a game Alabama is expected to win by about 50 points. The Crimson Tide are -10000 on the money line, so you’d have to wager $10,000 just to win $100.

Even with a spread as ridiculous as this one, there’s no value in taking Alabama to cover. It’s possible that Nick Saban will pull his starters early, allowing the Bulldog offense to score some meaningless points in garbage time. That would be the only way I could see The Citadel covering the spread.

But if you want to bet against Alabama and play for what could be a meaningless backdoor cover, go right ahead. If you think Alabama will score 60 or more points and win by at least 40 then this article isn’t for you. – Jack Jones (read more of his picks)**

I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to bet on sports in New Jersey after today’s report that federal authorities are putting pressure on state officials to stop taking bets until they can ensure people aren’t breaking any laws when doing so.**

The best betting tips for Saturday college football

No upset picks this week, but we do recommend betting on some big favorites.

Saturday’s biggest mismatches are SEC heavyweights Alabama and Georgia against two of the worst teams in the FCS. The Crimson Tide are favored by 57 points at home against The Citadel, while Georgia is a 48-point favorite at Georgia Tech. Both lines have ballooned over the past week, with Alabama up nearly 10 points and Georgia up more than 20.

Those spreads are out of whack with our projections: We predict Alabama by 51 and Georgia by 43, with expected point margins well below the lines even after accounting for home-field advantage (which is worth 3 to 5 points in FCS games). That makes both teams good bets to cover.

There is no clear favorite for the biggest game of the weekend, with No. 1 Alabama being a 3-point road favorite at The Citadel and No. 2 Clemson a 6.5-point road favorite against rival South Carolina. The Crimson Tide are still alive in the College Football Playoff race, while the Tigers can win their fourth straight ACC championship with a victory.

The other big games this weekend are No. 15 Texas A&M at No. 8 LSU and No. 10 Ohio State at No. 14 Michigan. The Buckeyes have dominated the Wolverines recently, winning eight of the last nine meetings, but the teams haven’t played at Ann Arbor since 2011.

There’s also rivalry week on Friday, with No. 20 Utah traveling to Salt Lake City to take on instate foe BYU, and a number of other big games on Saturday, including Washington State at Washington and West Virginia at Oklahoma State.

Alabama (-45.5) at the Citadel

LSU (-18) vs. Rice

Georgia State (+39) at Penn State

Notre Dame (+14) at USC

Iowa State (+29.5) at Baylor

Washington (-16.5) vs. Oregon State
