An Interview with UFC Champion, “Robbie Lawler

A blog on how MMA is becoming a career choice in athletes and the growing popularity of it.

The UFC’s current Welterweight Champion, Robbie Lawler, takes a moment to talk to us about his life as a MMA fighter and his climb to the top of the UFC.

How did you get into MMA?

I started as a wrestler in high school. I was always a fan of wrestling, Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage were my favorites. After high school I continued to wrestle at Iowa Central Community College but after two years of that I wanted to do something else. I wasn’t really sure what that was or what I wanted to do but then one day my dad took me to an event where he was fighting for some local organization and I got hooked. After that it was starting training and learning Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai and Boxing so I could get really good at MMA and start fighting for real money.

How do you think your life would be if you didn’t get into MMA?

I really couldn’t tell you, honestly. When I started training its pretty much all I thought about outside of wrestling in college so without it who knows where my life would be right now. It could be good

MMA is becoming a career choice in athletes and the growing popularity of it. I had the opportunity to interview UFC Champion, “Robbie Lawler” and discuss his training methods and his experience in the childhood years as an athlete. He has fought in many organizations such as Pride Fighting Championship, Strikeforce, UFC and more. We discussed his training methods, motivation, and how he got into MMA.

Robbie Lawler was born on March 20th, 1982 and began wrestling at the age of nine. Robbie got into MMA because he was interested in the martial arts when he was young.

Lawler says he didn’t get into MMA to try something new but just loved fighting from a young age. At the age of 16 Robbie Lawler started training with Pat Miletich who was a former UFC champion then went on to become a coach. Pat Miletich helped train Robbie for his first professional fight at 18 years old against Steve Berger which he won by TKO. Robbie also talked about how he became successful in the sport by hard work, dedication, staying focused and putting all your effort into what you set out to achieve. He said that no matter what it takes you have to go through rough times to get to where you want to

“I am a fighter and that is all I can do. If I don’t fight, I don’t know what to do.”

These are the words of Robbie Lawler, The UFC Champion, who has been fighting his whole life. He started fighting at the age of 8 years old and has not stopped since. Growing up in Iowa, he was bullied as a child and felt like something had to change. He asked his parents if he could take boxing lessons just to learn how to defend himself but little did he know that it would lead him to being a lifelong boxer/MMA fighter. He began fighting professionally when he was 16 years old which is unheard of nowadays but back then you could get your start in the MMA world young, and Robbie took advantage of that opportunity. As he grew into a young adult he knew this was what he wanted to do with his life, not because he had any other choice but because this is what made him happy.

When asked about why he thinks MMA is growing in popularity so much over the last decade or so, Robbie responded by saying “I think first off the training is more complete than it used to be. Back when I was starting you were either a wrestler or a boxer or ju

MMA is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, with a new generation of athletes who have chosen to make it a career choice. One of the top stars in MMA today is Robbie Lawler. After an amazing comeback, winning 4 out of his last 5 fights and becoming the UFC Welterweight Champion, he has earned a lot of respect in the MMA community. I had the opportunity to interview him and find out what goes into making it to the top of this sport.

Going back a few years ago, you were at a point where you were considering returning to MMA or pursue a boxing career. Then you went on a four-fight winning streak, including wins over Josh Koscheck and Bobby Voelker. What was that time like for you?

It was great. I stepped away from everything for awhile and got my head straight and my life straight. I wanted to come back and do what I love which was fight. I am real happy that things are working out right now.

Being one of the top fighters in the Welterweight division, how important is it to be fighting regularly?

Fighting regularly helps me stay sharp and keep that competitive edge going against other guys in my division who are also fighting regularly. The more we fight,

MMA is an abbreviation of Mixed Martial Arts. It is a combat sport that combines martial arts styles and techniques. Athletes who compete in MMA are trained in grappling, wrestling, and striking techniques. The UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) is the largest MMA organization in the world. A UFC champion must be a master of their craft.

Robbie Lawler won the UFC welterweight title on Saturday with a split decision victory over Johny Hendricks at UFC 181. In an interview with Fight Hub TV, Lawler was asked about his future plans for the division and his thoughts on being champion. He said that he does not have any plans to challenge himself to bigger weight classes because he feels good at 170 lbs and that he is glad he earned the title back after losing it four years ago. Lawler also added how exciting this sport really is, stating how anyone can win at any time and that they are constantly challenged as athletes to grow and improve their skills.

I am a huge MMA fan and in my free time I write blogs on the sport. I have been following MMA for over 10 years now and have recently started writing about it. The fight that got me hooked was UFC 58 which was between Georges St. Pierre and BJ Penn. The sport has grown so much in popularity since then and today you can see companies like Reebok sponsoring fighters.

One of the fighters I follow closely is Robbie Lawler also known as Ruthless Robbie Lawler. He is the current UFC Welterweight champion and his story is one of determination and perseverance. From being released from UFC to fighting his way back to the top, he has come a long way.

I had the pleasure of interviewing him at his gym in Coconut Creek, Florida and it was a great experience to learn more about this legend in person.

The interview went as follow:

Me: Hello Robbie, it’s great to meet you! It’s an honor to be here today interviewing you at your gym American Top Team Coconut Creek. I’m sure many fans like myself would love to know what motivates you to keep training?

Robbie: Oh I love this sport man! It’s all I know and it keeps me going every day. But

The sport of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) has become one of the fastest growing sports in the world today. Some people refer to it as “Human Cockfighting” while others love it and would like to see it grow into one of the main sports in America. MMA has been around for a while, but with the creation and growth of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), MMA has become more popular than ever before.

The UFC is currently owned by WME-IMG and headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada. The UFC promotes most of the top-ranked fights around the world. The UFC has made many attempts to get MMA sanctioned in New York, but have yet to do so. They have had many events at Madison Square Garden, but none have been sanctioned by New York State Athletic Commission.

One thing that makes MMA unique from other combat sports, is that most fighters train in multiple disciplines, including Muay Thai kickboxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, wrestling, boxing, and other styles. In order to be successful in the sport, fighters must be a hybrid martial artist.
