10 Reasons Why You Should NOT Join a Sports Team

Joining a sports team can be a fun and rewarding experience, however it isn’t for everyone. Here are 10 reasons why you should NOT join a sports team.

1. You will have to spend some of your free time playing the sport and training for the sport, which may not align with your current hobbies and interests.

2. You won’t get all the playing time that you want. I know this is true for most team sports…even if you are talented, there may be other players that are more talented or that play better together as a group than you do on certain days. This can definitely cause frustration, especially if you are competitive.

3. It is healthy to exercise regularly and eat well, but some sports teams tend to overdo it…and this can cause injury! According to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the most common injuries include sprains and strains, fractures, dental injuries, concussions and overuse injuries such as tendonitis and stress fractures. In addition to these risks of injury there are also mental health risks such as depression associated with being cut from a team or losing scholarships due to injury.

4. Some coaches can be extremely demanding and push their players too hard (especially in college).

1. Practice, practice and more practice. Sore muscles and tired limbs. Bruises and cuts. Your parents are going to hate it but you may love it. Starting your first team sport is great exercise, fun and amazing for your health but there are definitely some challenges you need to overcome before you can reach the top level.

2. You will be sore anytime you work out those muscle groups that get ignored in everyday life. If you are running a lot, your feet will hurt, your knees will hurt, even your hips may be sore after a few runs. But over time your body will adapt and you will get stronger and better conditioned. Your coordination may also improve as well as your balance as you learn how to run different routes or make different passes or shots on goal with varying degrees of power and accuracy.

3. You may not be the star of the team right away but over time your abilities will increase as you learn new skills and improve on old ones. Keep at it because if you want to play sports in college or even professionally, this is where it starts getting serious!

I want to tell you why you should not join a sports team. I’m going to try and be as objective as possible, which is hard, considering I have been a part of numerous teams over the years. I love being on a team, but that doesn’t mean everyone does.

I am going to list ten reasons why you should NOT join a team. Then, you can decide if being on a sports team is right for you. If it’s not right for you, don’t do it! Follow your heart when making decisions like this. If it feels like something doesn’t fit, don’t force it. You don’t want to be in an environment that makes you feel uncomfortable or unhappy.

1) You Can’t Handle Pressure

If you get nervous under pressure or crumble under stress, then playing on a sports team may not be for you. You will have to handle pressure from your coach, your teammates and yourself to perform at your best during practice and games. This also requires time management skills and discipline to get things done even when there are other distractions around.

I’ve been involved with a sports team for seven years now, and I’ve found that it has become a part of my life. I know that joining a sports team is something new for many students, but I hope this blog will help you to make the best choice for you.

1. You will never be able to hang out with your friends and family again.

2. The coach will constantly yell at you (even when you are not doing anything wrong).

3. You will lose all free time in your life, and your only friends will be other team members.

4. If you can’t make a practice or a game for any reason, everyone else on the team will hate you forever.

5. You might have to go to another state or even country just for one tournament which could last up to 2 weeks without any days off (except for maybe Sunday).

6. If you get injured, the coach might kick you off the team (this usually happens if you are not one of the best players on the team).

7. You might miss out on a lot of schoolwork and homework due to practices and games.

8. You might have to miss family reunions, special events or holidays because of games/tournaments or practices/meetings that were scheduled before you were born.

9. There is a good chance that one of your teammates will become an enemy outside of the sport, but still act like they are your best friend inside of it.

10. Most importantly: Your whole life will

You don’t have time to commit.

You don’t want to be around a bunch of sweaty people.

You will have less time to study.

You are not good at any sports.

There are too many rules that you can break by accident.

The team dress code is ugly or weird.

You don’t like people yelling at you or criticizing you.

You get nervous when you are around other people that are better than you.

You want to spend your time with your friends doing other things, not with a random group of strangers who don’t know each other well yet.

You know that it is going to be hard work and you would rather do something easier and more fun!
